The challenge

UNSW Engineering has extensive research capabilities across disciplines, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, bioengineering, energy storage, space, and smart communities. The challenge was to bring that breadth together into a single coherent story without losing the technical credibility, distinct expertise, or real-world relevance of each researcher’s work. The portfolio also needed to meet a tight timeline and high-quality expectations.

What Forestlyn did

Forestlyn provided strategic project leadership and communications expertise from discovery through to delivery. We aligned senior Engineering and Computer Science stakeholders around the project’s goals, audiences and story; interviewed and engaged 80 academic researchers to surface their capability, differentiators and impact; developed and refined 106 clear, audience-ready capability statements; translated complex digital technology and engineering expertise into accessible, credible language; and coordinated writers, photographers and creative partners to deliver finished digital and print portfolios.

The result

The completed portfolio provided UNSW Engineering with a clear, consistent way to communicate its strengths in digital technology internally and externally. It brought together more than 10 technology and research domains into a polished asset that could support stakeholder engagement, partnerships, marketing activity and future growth, while retaining the technical depth that matters to researchers and external audiences alike.

Outcomes

  • 80 academic researchers engaged and profiled
  • 106 audience-ready capability statements created
  • 10+ technology and research domains brought into one coherent story
  • Digital and print portfolio assets ready for engagement and partnerships
Forestlyn brought depth and breadth of experience in the technology sector, as well as a passion for education. Lucy’s strategic thinking and excellent communication made it easy for us to move forward rapidly and achieve 106 statements in the capability portfolio within just a few weeks.
